Online After School Music Technology Club for Ages 11–16 starting September 17th
FREE Taster September 10th, before deciding to commit
We’ve just finished an amazing summer term at Music Technology Club and we’re excited to share how many young people discovered new skills and a real passion for creating music.
If you’re searching for engaging after-school activities, especially for kids who don’t connect with team sports or traditional music lessons, it can feel like there aren’t many creative, accessible choices that also teach real skills.
That’s exactly what our Online After-School Music Technology Club offers. The summer term has wrapped up, but we’re already planning the next one for this autumn.
The club runs for 10 weeks during term time, every Wednesday from 4:45 to 5:45 pm BST, and is open to learners aged 11 to 16 anywhere in the UK. It’s fully online, affordable, and designed to help young people build creativity, confidence, and practical skills, whether they’re complete beginners or already experimenting with music at home.
What Is Music Technology and Why Does It Matter?
Music technology is the art and skill of creating, recording, arranging, and producing music using digital tools. It used to be the territory of professionals working in expensive studios, but now these tools are available to anyone, and they’re incredibly powerful for young people.
With just a laptop or desktop computer, headphones, and an internet connection, learners can use free, browser-based music software to explore and create music. There’s nothing extra to download or buy.
This isn’t about flashy apps or passing fads. It’s about helping learners understand how music works, giving them tools to build their own ideas, and teaching real-world creative and digital skills.
It can also bring traditional music learning to life, helping students understand things like composition, rhythm, and harmony in a hands-on way that feels relevant and fun.
Who Is This Club For?
Music Technology Club is perfect for young people who:
• Want to make music but aren’t sure how to begin
• Already sing, rap, play an instrument, or DJ and want to produce music
• Love being creative, especially using computers or digital tools
• Might not enjoy traditional music lessons but love music and sound
• Are looking for something practical, fun, and different each week
We welcome complete beginners as well as those with some experience. We keep group sizes small so every learner gets plenty of support and attention.
We’ve seen learners who never imagined themselves as musicians discover a love for music technology, and those who already play instruments find new ways to develop their skills. It can spark curiosity, engage even the hardest-to-reach learners, and unlock a genuine love of learning.
What Will Learners Do?
Over the 10-week term, learners will:
• Create their own music using user-friendly online tools
• Learn beat-making, song structure, layering, and effects
• Record and arrange vocals or instruments
• Explore how to mix sounds and build complete tracks
• Learn music theory in a way that makes sense and feels relevant
• Receive personalised feedback and optional catch-up materials
All sessions are live and interactive, not pre-recorded videos, and are designed to help young people build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a creative routine they can carry forward.
Who Runs the Club?
Music Technology Club is led by Andrew Ferguson, a professional music producer, DJ, and educator with almost 30 years of industry experience and more than 15 years working in education.
Andrew is the founder of Education & Bass, a platform that has supported thousands of learners and teachers across the UK and internationally through online learning, in-school workshops, and accredited music technology programmes.
He has taught everyone from beginners in schools and alternative provision to degree-level students, and he brings the same energy and care to every learner, no matter where they’re starting from.

Why This Matters
Music Technology Club is not just about making music. It’s about giving young people the chance to discover what they’re capable of in an environment that’s relaxed, supportive, and inspiring.
It’s for kids who want to try something different. The ones who might not put their hand up in music class but have ideas bubbling under the surface. The ones who spend hours listening to music and wondering how it’s made. The ones who just need the right tools and someone to show them how to begin.
We’re so proud of what our summer term learners achieved, and we’re looking forward to helping even more young people find their creative spark next term.
Let’s give the next generation something to build on. A creative outlet. A real skill. And a chance to make something that’s completely their own.
